<< # Saiyuki Yaoi Logs ? >>

Keeper of Sanzo's dreams,
and Nataku's child within.

 when I update, I bore the crap outta people with long entries :D

Sweet. The neighbour's got a fairly consistent wireless signal that I can actually pick up from the living room. Which I'm in right now to watch Chelsea v.s. Manchester Utd.
...And Chelsea's already scored a goal...
...But I'm backing Man Utd (but of course.)...
...Let's see if the wireless still maintains at the full-time whistle... and beyond.

CRIPES ROONEY'S JUST MISSED JUST MISSED JUST MISSED

=====
[Edit:]
The connection often can't hold as long as I'd have liked, but it's THERE. I think I've found my new favourite spot in the house. Effective range of radius: 1, 2 metres around the dining table. Lemme just move the laptop here...

Now about the match.
...Which I've somehow missed half of because somehow for some reason I fell asleep from the start of the 2nd half.
Perhaps it was boring, perhaps I haven't watch football for a long time, or, I dunno, but when I got woken up by -something- (the sudden burst of cheer at the final whistle, most likely), the first thing I saw and heard myself think was,

What is up with that scarf Mourinho's wearing?

...And oh, it's 3-0.
*blink* Right, right. So much for a match with pride at stake.

===========

It was 30cm, it was a record length not seen for the past, say, (wait, how old am I again?) 15 years.
And it was high time I lopped it off.
Yeah so, you, you and YOU out there who thought I should start growing my hair long, PFFT NAAHNYAADA XD (Yeah wait, how old did you say I was again?)

But truth be told, I -didn't- actually want it too short this time either, so I was rather excited when the hairdresser and I reached some sort of unsaid agreement on how the hair should be cut.
How I came to this little salon (yes it's the salon kind, not the usual /10mins QC one I go to) was a rather long story, but let's just say my mother was impressed with her friend's new hairstyle, ...so here I am. My mother and the friends came along too. And to cut the story short, and perhaps make it more confusing,

s.C.: :D
HairDresser: :D
s.C. + HD: *agreement!*
(See boys and girls, this is called Effective Communication under Section Non-Verbal Communication BUT I DIGRESS.)
HD: *snipsnipsnip* How's this for turning heads?
s.C.: :D *is happeh*
Mum & Friend: *troop in*
Mum: SHORTER!
HD: But then she won't be pretteh D:
Mum: SHORTER
Friend: SHORTER
Random old lady on my side: SHORTER It looks like you haven't even cut her hair!
Random old lady's friend: Well now, she should decide for herself shouldn't she? But yes SHORTER
s.C.: -_-;;
HD: ...Kay.

*5 mins later*
s.C.: Yeah, yeah that's okay :D
Mum: SHORTER
Friend: SHORTER
Random old lady on my side: What's with this generation's fashion? SHORTER
Random old lady's friend: SHORTER
HD: Butbut, the prettehness!
Mum: She's just a schoolgirl. SHORTER plz
s.C.: D:

*Yet more mins later*
HD: So you al'right with the fringe?
s.C.: //It's too short already, dammit -_-// Yeah, that's fine already.
HD: How'bt the back?
Mum: SHORTER
s.C.: (ack)
HD: But the balance of the style...!
Mum: The sides too plz

*When it's finally done*
s.C.: //GAH. It's even shorter than what I've had in the past several months.// Thank you. Thanks very much *forced grin*

Point is, WHY does mum even want it that short?? I thought she was always against too-shortness??
So now my hair... well, it's like any other hairstyle I've had before. No big surprises next time you see me.
-_- Just when I was so happy with the 1st style the hairdresser cut, too. I could tell he was getting quite miserable having to cut the "balance" and "style" and "prettiness" away with each SHORTER PLZ demand. Which was why I thanked him so profusely at the end.

Oh well, it was a cut (serious!) anyway, so I can't complain.

Moral of story? GO ON YOUR OWN IF YOU WANT YOUR HAIR CUT YOUR WAY.
And avoid sitting next to aunties who are having their hair permed, which makes them a little too bored and very much commentary-inclined. But that salon seats only 2 customers, so.

 The Taile of Lizard-san, Aftermath

So, why even bother writing how we finally got the lizard off when my roomie's already decribed it all here (06 April entry)? XD

To wit -- if someone had filmed the process, the video would be filled with ewws and ewwwws and a hysterical laugh track that would sound suspiciously like stormy. And s.C. would look like she's trying to fryscrape noodles that's stuck to the bottom of a frying pan and damn right she's scraping cos the tail's practically a fossil glued to the floor.
The lizard itself, though, was a different matter.
It was like scooping up one of those translucent jelly sweets that has the ability to stick to you, you know, not that I'm trying to put anyone off those jelly sweets or anything. LEGS! REMOVE THYSELVES FROM MY CARDBOARDY SCOOPER AT ONCE.

Then we decided that the washing up of the Scene of Squishment was not a task to be procrastinated on, lest we accidentally stepped on That Spot, somehow.

So, yeah.

Ew.

By the way, it was Goku's birthday the other day, wasn't it?! 5th April? So is he lyke w00t (5)20 years old already?! Or does the Manga Timeline Of Disjointedness allow him to stay a youthful 19? XD He's older than me, wow.

And when I finally found time to go to Kino the other day, Zero Sum was, sob, SOLD OUT. It was barely even 3 days from the day it was shipped in. Well yes, I usually buy it right on the shipping day, but sometimes I even see one issue left unsold on the shelves a month later. Did they suddenly have less stock of ZS or what ;_; My Sanzo cover~~~ and, Plot~~~

So, crap.
There's a lizard happily decomposing in front of our doorstep. Lizard-san is tail-less, and said tail is observed to be a little distance away... right where the door is supposed to hinge.

*does not put 2 & 2 together*
*does not come to conclusion*

OH YES. THE NILE IS BEAUTIFUL TODAY.

Stormy and I solemnly swear that we have nothing to do with anything, and do not know how this tragedy has come to befall our tail-less comrade.
I mean, if we had, we wouldn't leave it on the doorstep like that, would we.
And it's best not to think one of us might have stepped on it, because the part where the tail detached... looked a tad squished.
But I digress.

We have decided to leave it where it is until we can think of a nice, clean way to rid of it.

RIGOR MORTIS.

HOLY CRAP I GOT THE SPORTSWOMEN OF THE YEAR AWARD FOR MY HALL. XD XD XD OMGSH. Unfortunately, my little-finger-that-could-not-be-bent sustained a major sprain during training the day before, so the handwranglingshaking translated to quite a handful (ha!) of various pained moments and internal wincing.

But right now, this brilliant girl has brilliantly left her room keys in her brilliant room. I'm locked out. At friend's room now (conveniently stinking the place up cos it's after training); will update again later. *grinz*

Oh my. Remember that entry about the "hieroglyphics" chibi!me drew on the wall of my HK house? I saw them today! XD

The middle one's a flying fish- that I can be sure of now. XD
Maybe the other one is a pacifier, but nobody understands us artists anyway.

And the whole thing's barely up to my waist. This is too cute. <3

MY KIDNEYYYYS
suffered an obscene amount of elbows in the latest soccer match. We were short of strikers lately (or in fact, we have none), so for the last 2 matches I was again put up in front... and I must have worked with around 6 totally different striking partners in those 2 matches alone *sweat* (4 in one match! FOUR.)

Honestly, with quite a few years of pseudo-striker (aka free-roler) experience under my belt in the HC years, I've always been fairly confident of my ability to go shoulder-to-shoulder with opponents despite my weight and relatively highish CG. Shielding may not be my best aspect of the game, but I can be tough if I want.

Obviously, all my previous opponents have given me a false sense of confidence. Or maybe they were just not as bulky as this defender.

Woah like, WHAT THE FUCK.
..I thought detachedly, as I flew a few feet away and in the midst of skidding to a stop. I mean, I'm using "flew" and "skid" in an almost literal sense here. If not for the wet-muddyish pitch that day, I would've had the most terrible abrasions.
But that still didn't stop the COUGHHACKI'M GONNA DIE OF INTERNAL INJURIES feeling beneath my ribs when I got up (in as dignified a manner as I can, may I add) from down there.
The rest of the match didn't see me getting flung all over the place - there's such a thing as "adapt", luckily - but I sure got elbowed no less than 3 times. Oddly enough, this was also the first match that I felt I could last the whole 90 minutes. My senior and I wondered if I might've been the night cycling we did the nigh..midnigh...DAWN before. ("Another slope!? *pantpant*")

And we thought the night of cycling would totally murder our stamina for the match. But the that would be another story for another time.

I met WMan on that night, incidentally, cos we were near NUS and she was having dinner with her hall production mates after the first stage night. "Where have you kidnapped my Saiyuki manga to ALL THESE YEARS?!?" I should have screamed. Yeah, that's what I should have screamed. But I guess our friendship's bigger than that, lalala! XD (She's still looking for her Clover #4 though- any of YOU have it?) We seriously need to exchange our drawing portfolios someday.

I also saw the most beautiful rainbow. That was 2 weeks ago. But I must write it down to remind myself how utterly distinct and awesome it was, so much so that I pointed at it and started yelling "Rainbow! Rainbow!" in the middle of training like... like somebody who hasn't seen such a brilliant rainbow before. Which is true.
My soccermates weren't that impressed though. :D Until it got so completely beautiful it became -two-.
Apparently, it's just a reflection of the original rainbow.
But, believe me, it was simply breathtaking.

Lastly, here is what - at first glance - looks like a shameless meme to see how other view you. In truth... DAMN RIGHT THAT'S WHAT IT IS.
http://kevan.org/johari?name=s.C.
Thus if you are ever so inclined, do it! :D
I lost a couple of people's views though, because they didn't put the dot at the end of "s.C." and I'm too embarrassed to ask them again :D;;

OH by the way, I'm in Hong Kong now. XD I moves in mysterious ways

Tuesday, February 21, 2006 :: 11:55 p.m.

There has to be some way to cool down after exercising so that you actually cool down, and not develop some phenomenal aches that leaves you wondering if you've been playing football ...or American football. There has to be. So. much. pain. (Even the arms! Why?!) >_<

Speaking of which, I'm now eating a blueberry cheese cake that's been left in the fridge since... since Thursday's BBQ. Hope it doesn't result in, mm, pain.

===========

I absolutely loved this month's ZS. There's the lovely Saiyuki chapter, of course. And then there're the loveliest alternate tank 6 covers for Loveless and Saiyuki. I just love how the ikkou are still dressed in the same black clothes they donned for the original vol. 6 cover. Gato must have thrown them off the backdrop. XD And Hakkai looks just about more than happy enough to use that gun on a certain silver-haired slut's somebody's direction *grinz* On that note, this is yet another evidence that Hazel and Creed (Black Cat) are secretly brothers. The kind who, y'know, goes shopping together :D AND THE SILVER HAIR DOES NOT LIE.

As for the Saiyuki chapter itself, . . .What's gonna be up next chapter? Insane-youkai-who-does-matrixy-stuff-with-bullets v.s. Sane(??)-youkai-who-will-kill-fangirls-if-he-finally-shows-his-face?? akjhsfanejfaof eeeeee! XD
I love Minekura-sensei :D
I'd really like to draw a rendition of youkai Hakkai before Minekura actually shows us her own version (if she ever does). He'll look an unsavage sort of feral, and hey! Maybe his right eye is blind! A la CLAMP characters...! Huh. Maybe not. (...But he's got to look pretty odd in Hakkai's clothes, methinks.)

===========

I realise that many of my entries fall back on manga/anime/saiyuki-related stuff. Do I not have a real life?! DX Unfortunately, I do. In fact, quite a few months' worth of "interesting personal references" (because - regrettably - one's real life is not really that interesting to most other people *grinz*) got lost to bad memory because I'm apparently too lazy to write them all down.

Soooo, yesterday. Soccer! Good weather! Nice pitch! ...Hello, bruises!
I was pushed up to be a striker in the later stages of the game to let others come in to the midfield position. Quite a milestone, I'd say, because it means that in a space of half a year I've played matches in defence, midfield, and forward! -And- I scored a goal as well. I'll be prouder of it had it been in real open play though (i.e. I stole the ball from the last defender *chuckle*). Which -could- have happened, but the ref ruled me offside, which I'm friggin 100% sure as hell I wasn't. And yeah, I thought the -midfielder- gets the most knocks, not the striker. Was I wrong or what. I'm now amazed that so big a bruise can fit in such an area so small as an ankle.

So after kicking a ball around unfortunate home furniture for over a decade, being able to play football on a real pitch now and punt long balls and take shots from afar hasn't changed my opinion of the sport - it's fun. Until that moment during the game you feel like you're dying of asphyxia, that is. But then after the match, I'll go, Oh, how fun! And all is well. :D

Maths quiz tomorrow. I'm dead. Now that's what real life's about...

Sunday, February 5, 2006 :: 11:48 p.m.

 A quick entry...

...'cos I figured I need more writing practice, so I won't have to hand in another written tragedy like the Effective Comm in-class assignment the other day. It was... I mean... a tragedy. I thought it had started off so well, but then it just looped round and round and suddenly got lost at the other end of the forest. Yeah, like this.
Worse thing was, it was actually last sem's exam question, which meant I had seen the question before (thanks to PL's notes) and even looked - if so much as glanced - at the valid points. In the end, it went the way of an incoherent essay that GP tutors would love to set fire to. And bury 6 feet under the ground.

And it was just a goddamn Letter to the Editor! XO 250 words!!

Right, need to shoot off for class now.

Thursday, February 2, 2006 :: 01:26 p.m.

 The unintended and exceptionally long entry @_@

Apparently I fail the Singaporean test in the looks department. For the 392.17th time since entering uni with or without preamble, I was asked if I'm Singaporean, because I "don't look like one! :O". There was even one time when the reason went as far as "you've got a bit of an accent."

What, 14 years in this country and still don't sound local?! How I fail in life. XD Ok, maybe I fake accents for fun at times. I wouldn't know. >.>

Also. These days I fail the girl test as well.

Wait. I shouldn't be admitting to this.

I'd been greeted "xiao di"(boy) by shopkeepers 3 times in the past couple of months. Well, I got it twice from one person. Ooooh. Which would then be followed by much oops-ing on their second look :D
(But of course, that must imply that I'm still cute and adorable. ...um hey, clean up after you finish puking!)

Moving on,
hey,
I said I'll be posting a list of all the games and trainings I had in the vacation!
So for future personal references and possibly public sympathy, here it is:

Ze 9 Things s.C. did to kill herself in the holidays! :D by skin cancer or otherwise
IVP
Soccer training
Girls Beat The Street: Street Soccer Comp (We got thiiiird *glee*)

ISG
Softball (2nd!)
Soccer (...also 2nd...! >.>)

Hall
Softball
Tennis
Badminton
Track
Swimming

The sad thing is, the list next year will probably be about the same, save for track and swimming, ...unless I get pulled in again. DX Ironically, we got in the track finals! which'll be on Thursday. 100m and 400m~ Here I come~! *dies*
Speaking of getting pulled in... hee, PL got pulled into this Speed Dating thing for EEEweek today. And I managed to diffuse all her devious attempts to pull me in as well. *grinz* BUT, I bet it went well for you RIGHT?! Things like these'll always turn out fine. ...Just as long as you don't scare the guy away, yeah. :D

Now for something that was supposed to be blogged about a week ago, but never quite made it...
Xmas was also the season to check Minekura-sensei's online diary! I almost forgot, but there it was, the annual Xmas story on 22nd Dec. The story is set in a parallel world raging in war, fire and smoke, where the Goku-tachi battle as insurgents under a sky bereft of sun and stars, a land drowned in perpetual cries of the snow. And, like the title "The dreams that the Yukimushi see..." suggests [replace "Yukimushi" with your insignificant snow-insect of choice], Goku dreams. It's a strange dream. But a nice dream. It's a dream he doesn't want to forget, ever. A dream in which they are travelling. Travelling under an endless stretch of azure, beneath a blazing sun, against the breath of the earth.
-----------
Then we find ourselves kicking up water, racing through a barely-torchlit tunnel with Kubota and his unnamed companion. People merely know him as a bioweapon. And now Kubota is taking him away- "...Like a bridegroom whisking his bride away from the altar," he thought detachedly. No matter how he sees it, this "bioweapon" looks just like any other teen you'd pass on the street. Except for that odd right hand, that is.
"Get me out of here," the teen had said. And the teen stared.
"All right," Kubota had replied. And with that, everything was answered.
And now, the teen is asking why Kubota came along. Are you not from the top, the teen asks. You doesn't have to run away, you know.
Yeah, but I had a dream yesterday.
...Wha?
In the dream, I was living together with you.
-----------
Minekura hasn't forgotten the Hachi no Su duo either. The sad thing is I didn't read this part as thoroughly as I should have (short attention span, heh). Yamazaki has a dream. ...About transporting corpses. "So how is that different from reality?" Jinnei laughs.
In the dream, they are hired by the country. Transporting corpses are all part of the job. Thugs and hoodlums swarming for money-fetching organs would be involved, but risking their lives for it is part of the job, too. Despite that... it's not a bad dream. At least the sun rises there, everyday. Besides... it's a job they can actually be proud of.
-----------
The mission is scheduled to be carried out on Dec 25, midnight. Less then an hour left to go.
Goku is losing hold of the dream.
The blue sky.
The endless stretch of earth.
The wind-like freedom.
Everyone is here.
Laughing.
Putting their lives on the line fighting, but still laughing despite.
Living.
We were living.
... ...
Something's amiss. The cries - the howling of the sweeping snow - are gone. Goku is out from underground in a flash, and---
He sees the sky.
The deep, sapphire night sky.
The omnipresent grey clouds are nowhere to be seen. And above the field of silver, a sky of glittering stars overlays an endless wash of gradation upon the limit of one's vision. Goku continues looking up, spinning slowly. 360 degrees... like he is standing right in the middle of a dome of silver and blue.
"The stars... are just like the snow..."
...And he cries.

...The story doesn't end on that line, but... it's on about the same note. The summary I was intending to do totally turned into a whole damn story outline, impromptu. o_O Mm well, I needed the writing practice anyway.
The other link I was intending to show was this. Minekura-sensei drew Hirata-san a Gojyo for the momentous 2000000 hits on his fansite! CUTE.
Other links include, ahem, worm12 and worm16 (the most latestest chapter. Not advised to read unless you've read, say, worm15).

Ohshit it's so late now? There's training in the morning! XO

Tuesday, January 10, 2006 :: 04:10 a.m.

Happy Holidays, all! 'Tis the season to say, I suck. :D And that's not only because I tried stealing my neighbours' wireless signal to post an entry (...and failed D:). I know I haven't written an entry in a long time, but I didn't realise it's been... almost 3 months?!?! since I last posted. And what was it about? An essay that had its deadline extended. In capital letters. Which I handed in late anyway. :D

Actually, I had been trying to update since the week before last, but one thing will inevitably happen:
s.C.: *typetypetype* :: A few seconds later :: *ZZZZ*
:: Minutes/Hours later ::
s.C.: *yikes!* *springs up* *typetypetyp...* *ZZZZ*
:: Repeat cycle ::

In truth, that wouldn't have been so bad had I not been trying for such a long-winded post. Like this one.
This sudden nap-attack's been getting drastic lately. Earlier on, when mum did that slithering(!!) noise I hate so much to wake me up, ("It's 8 already. When're you planning to sleep till?" ...Why, tomorrow of course! T3T) all I can think of was when the heck did I even -start- to fall asleep?!?!
In the end I was late to hall anyway.
Tragic.

In the meantime, I sure ran into some Bad Machinery Karma over the months. BMK, by my definition, is:

  • For some reason, the whole hard disk on the home computer got totally KO'ed. If not for the 5% of stuff that had been in my laptop, 100% of my accumulated garbage treasured stuff over the years would have completely gone down the drain. Still, all the stuff lost... doujinshi, bookmarks, half-done cgs,half-done translations,HK pics,VenusTransitpics,cosplaypics,the special Minekura pencil sketches on the what-used-to-be-issaisha site... D: I just have to say the laptop cannot have come at a better time.
  • But while still in the self-congratulatory stage of myself having survived the 5%, said laptop BSoD-ed on me. AND BECOMES UNBOOTABLE. A grown man could cry. Survived that though, after some reinstallation. But it was a week of bad scare.
  • Digi.Cam.Stopped.Working.And.Is.Still.Not.Working...!!
  • My external hard drive is having an inaccessible I/O device error.Yet another scary episode, since several GBs of game and anime are in there. IN THEREEE. I think it's fixable, but due to the frequent nap-attacks (see aboveaboveaboveabove), the repairing progress is not very, hm, progressive. I don't want to think about what'd happen -if- it's unfixable...
  • And did you hear about the girl who managed to flood the fridge and floor in her hall room? No? Good. And you didn't just see that previous sentence, k?

Next post: Shall list the different games I joined this vacation. Run for the hills!!! Because I could make a longer list with that than the above :D

Um, yeah, before I forget -again-, I actually put up a couple of translations (no scans yet as usual :D) at hollosite: worm13, worm13b some time ago, since spymac's undergoing upgrade and I can't upload stuff there. But apparently I forgot to -tell- people they're there, so... *slaps self*
Also, worm10 has now been affectionately named The Chapter That Is Not To Be. It's just not fated to be finished. Of all the chapters, -that- one I didn't have as a backup in my laptop -_- One day, one day...

Btw, those who've already seen this month's ZS... doesn't -that- thing look like Kenyuu's slashwhizzy magickal schtick way back in Burial? Hm, about 4 days away before I can get the next ZS...
While on the topic, I keep feeling that the mood in Reload somehow ties in with Gaiden's. Nevermind that I've yet to read the latest Gaiden chapter. Legend has it that Konzen's naked or something. Uh, my point is, maybe we'll see Sanzo holding Goku in his arms in the next installment I WISH. It's a sincere wish though :D
