I brought joy to 2 people today (mother and her friend) by pointing out the very interesting arrow in front of us when we were tailgating a FedEx truck.
Mum was slower in getting it than her friend did ("You've got to look at the white space!" --friend), but when they finally did get it, I swear they -grinned- all the way home. Mr. Friend vowed to "try it on [his] kids, hiakhiakhiak". ^^;;
I can't forget how happy their expressions had been upon this enlightenment. And I'm guessing few people have actually noticed the hidden arrow before, much less seen it outright at the 1st glance...
Mum then boasted how wide-read I am.
(But beware! People coughcough who play too much of it will inevitably type "x" at Work with the intention of "returning screen to original prompt". Cough.) |

Oh nooooooooo
Zakuro genuinely makes me smile. In a ghastly way, though. But he's just so cute... And! Nice hair colour - not the anime!purple and neongreen eyes. And oh, the Kubo & Toki I was referring to in the previous entry is in this page. I wonder if we're supposed to know the other character on the left, since he looked to be drawn very nicely... Yes... this entry is picture spam. But only because I've gotten too rusty in writing due to the month of cantonese -_- (I can't even speak English/Mandarin fluently now, as some amused classmates can attest to.) |

Just a fun link to an unfortunately truthful flash interactive...
By the way. I found Kubota and Tokitoh (of Wild Adapter) in vol.1 of Saiyuki when I reread it just now for the 1st time in ages. Aah, Minekura [insert :3 phrase/praise] again. |

(Why is Ryan Giggs being so brilliant -and- scoring all the goals only now when I'm not in front of the TV to watch the matches? 3 games in a row!
Seeing the success I had with keeping my resolutions last year (though right now I do have 6 new sets of drawings in front of me as atonement), I might as well resolute not to make any this year.
Caught Kung Fu Hustle yesterday. It seemed like an amazingly short film, and probably was too, at the length of 99 minutes. The story ended just when I was expecting more to come. But that's not a bad thing; it ended when it should. Dragging it on wouldn't be nice.
AMD is back! With new and improved hand-drawn backgrounds. It's looking very pretty indeed.

It suddenly got colder on the 28th. Mornings of 7 dCelsius (and supposedly in some areas, 2 dC??) and nights of 9 dC followed in the next few days.
I think of that Christmas Eve I spent with a sea of reportedly 400,000 people on the streets for the Christmas countdown, and then I try to imagine a quarter of that number who has fallen victim fatally to the earthquake+tsunami disaster. I can't quite imagine it. Looking at the maps that pervade printed news, online news, or just plain TV news these days, it seems like sg has been snugly protected by both Indonesia and peninsular Malaysia from resulting waves. Can you imagine if...? The island would probably float across the sea if a tsunami hits. (No, of course it wouldn't; was trying for an amusing imagery here... gosh, how surreal.) But as it is, everything still goes on... and I'll be collecting my IC tommorrow... eh. |

Adult obesity rate in Hong Kong (as of Nov. 2002): 29% =========== Apropos of nothing (since the stat's slightly outdated I shall ignore it), I would like to venture that Hong Kongers are quite a fit bunch.
And why? Because the train (MTR) stations are full of stairs. And MTR is a major way of travel in these areas. Having been spoilt in S'pore -- where all stations have escalators leading from under/aboveground platforms to concourse level -and- after which to ground level -- I was naturally a bit ruffled to find myself walking 631754 times since 9th Dec up and down flights of such stairs to get to ground level. Okay, I kid. Maybe it was 841933 times.
Anyway. Right, it's a special day today.
I mean, Merry Christmas, all! (Though the day's almost over.) Happy Boxing Day then! (I don't celebrate it -_-) ...Happy New Year! in advance =D
I mean to chronicle events of yesterday; it was a marvellous night of fireworks and laser display and -other- displays. And crowds. You could almost -- almost -- try lifting your feet off the ground and you might just be carried several metres away. Was very tempted to try exactly that, ...but.

Have been waking up with terribly asymmetrical hair of late. Do I blame it on the "Eastern to Northeastern wind" or should I put it down to the various (change of) shampoo I used for the past week?
It's hard to get a decent internet connection here, having shuttled back and forth 2/3 places of residences in the previous coupl'a days.
Which is why I ended up trying to purge her computer of the virus, and which is how I now get some internet access in return *cackles* |

Spiffy label, isn't it? It's flashy and red and it says "POISON".
...So. Did something look familiar? Did the word "Raspberry" ring a damn noisy bell? (If it didn't, there's always yesterday's entry to rake up the memories.)
At least peel off the label before trying to pass poison to me; I would think that's common courtesy. Wait, I still have that epileptic expression around somewhere... ah, here it is.
Handy picture to have around

O O o 0 0 O ~~~ O O o o 0 0 O ~~~ I've probably swept up more medicine in the past few days than I can ever hope to amass in a lifetime. If I were patient, I might even have colour-coded the above circles (yes they represent symbols of the medicine I'm taking, can you not seeeee~~?) for your discerning purposes. But pitas is not blogger, and I am not patient.
See, there are pretty little tablets, and then there are pretty, little tablets. I refuse to talk about the big ones, which I think are the most intrinsically ironic medicine to prescribe to one who has a flaming sore throat. My medication has been a tale of 2 halves, because the 1st prescription somehow managed to miraculously work naught on my sickness; you might even say I got worse. Those first 6 circles and the ~~~ are the members of this prescription. ...Ah, legend:
It's always the small tablets and the pills that have colour. Hence 'pretty'. You would've thought they were precipitates of transition metal compounds or something. So on top of being hard-to-get-down, the big white tablets get to look boring. The 2nd prescription is more vibrant. Hey, you even get Raspberry-flavoured lozenges! Heavy-duty things they are -- almost 7mm of length ('cause they're circles with length! ... ...aww nobody's laughing ;_; sorry... inside joke), and that's why it gets the bold treatment for its symbol. That's plenty to suck on. Perhaps even too much, because on my 2nd dose, I realised it made the back of my tongue/roof of my mouth -completely- numb. I know the lozenge's supposed to relief my sore throat, but...? Ah well, scary drug. (Fear teh raspberryPink!) Even the cough syrup is an electrical shocking punkish pink. But I'll rather dye my hair an electrical shocking punkish blue.
'Kay, I'm running out of steam.
I imagine I'll regret posting this entry; you should be glad I'm not sick often. =) |

It's been, what, 3 days since the end of chalet? Yet fever still persists, fluctuating in temperature that can peak at 39.4 degreesC/103F.
Inflammation seemed to have clawed permanent scratches in the throat. Unlike normal sore throats, this particular one has bared all fangs and is simply out to get me (and my sleep). Dry cough as well. And has just acquired a slight cold. (Could it be influenza?) I'm almost suspecting it's dengue fever or other illness of similar maliciousness, but hey, if that were so, I would be stuck in bed wouldn't I?
Will be re-visiting the doctor tomorrow. I've not been this sick since... forever? And until yesterday, I can't remember the last time I visited a doctor. They now have Big Big tablets for you to swallow. >_<

*chortles* I don't know... it looks terribly like Goku on the ZS cover. And it probably is. ...So did he join Gato's tribe or something huh huh? *grinz*
The picture looks gorgeous though, with a more subdued style of colouring compared to Minekura's usual technique (i.e. you can't really pick out the whites in the drawing), if this tiny picture is anything to go by. (Gee, lookit his left hand. "Yooou arrrre the One," sayz it.) =========== I tried out a tablet today! (Two, to be exact) *molests tablet*

Current mood:
Many thanks to Charlie Brown(c) for this... expression, which most appropriately reflected mine this morning, when I realised I had missed yet another chance to meet up with the friend who up to this day holds my Saiyuki Gaiden tankoubon hostage. (sniff sniff) Nevermind, the day will come. (Hopefully tomorrow... but nah.) =========== To-Do List:
Woe! The things I have to accomplish! and these are just 10 of 'em.
Project Gain-a-bit-weight got off to a splendid start an hour ago when father brought home pizza for dinner (as a birthday meal). Unwittingly ate 4 slices -- essentially half the pizza -- sprinkled muchly with cheese topping (yes, that sounded more unhealthy than weight-gaining but.) and washed down with a packet of Ribena.

Friday: Visited lithotripsy-ed uncle in hospital. He looked weak and in pain and seemed like dropping off any moment -- which he couldn't do, because excess sleep was not good at that stage.
So having then slept early that night, I woke up at 9 a.m. the next morning -- yesterday. (New record! \ToT/)
Then -that- night, I was doodling on the whiteboard in my room when the damncursedfreak thing fell on my foot.
Luckily, I have brilliant tolerance for pain. Or my foot was already too numb.
And I woke up at 9.30 a.m. this morningyay! v(-_-)v To find that I can't control a football without wincing. Flatland is a really great book.
Am very impressed by Edwin Abbott's simultaneous storytelling and fact-telling. And as a bonus, put in a dash of none-too-inconspicuous Victorian era bashing, and you'll get me quite wordless here for a review.
I had even been taking down notes of ideas that surfaced randomly in my head -- all from the enlightenment(!!) that is Flatland. <- I don't even -want- to (sad to say) attempt to do the same for schoolwork [aka syllabus aka conformity aka I-know-it's-useful-but-I-don't-want-to-learn-it-like-this!!]
It is all tooooo tempting to write some obscure prose based on Flatland. Seriously, I have this whole page of ideas on... things. *waves paper* ¬_¬
Some other time perhaps.

Watched Blackburn v.s. Liverpool yesterday, and...
o_O You can be sure I ceased my own little dribbling exploits (around furniture) immediately then.
Actually, watching yesterday's Blackburn was like watching the Wales side I love (i.e. not that... kind of football played against England recently -_-). It was full of passion, determination, and sudden burst of runs down the wings (was it my imagination or was the ref nutmegged? @_@) aka Bellamy/Davies/Giggs/Koumas on their day.
Spent $20.00 at Kino yesterday (Ha! Take that! You can't gimme no loose change now!), just because I'm such a sucker for nice foolscap cover designs even though I have one stack of foolscap at home and I'm not even using those during this period and. it adds up with ZS to give a perfect 2 0.
Portsmouth fans you can stop laughing now. (And oh Arsenal you lucky sods)

On accounts that the spider episode disgusted quite a couple of my classmates, I've decided to transfer that entry over to my EJ. You have now been suitably warned. ----------
I waited and waited for Elfen Lied to fail me.
Elfen Lied had been an anime I downloaded on impulse on its first release, raw, because of its beautiful-looking title. (Nice sounding too, if you know to pronounce that second word as "Leed". German.)
Elfen Lied has all that, but for some reason I can't fathom till even now, I was hooked on it from day one. But of course, if you've got "blood" and "pinkhaired girls" in the same frame, it definitely says something about not being your typical cutesy/hentai anime.
I liked it so much I'm now looking at its manga, which is said to have a slightly deviant plot near the end.
That stare, you can already see in the first frame of the opening theme... And the opening theme! It is quite, quite fantastic -- both the art and the song. Getting incoherent I sense... But the opening theme was a great hymn(?)choral(?)opera(?) piece of Latin lyrics. Was entranced by the song (and possibly the whole anime) on first listen. (w00t! I've just finished BT-ing the OST!! *kiss*)
But because of the above-mentioned factors that would repel me from an anime, I thought that somewhere down the road it would eventually let me down. But it kept going, and going, and... ...I'm just going to say I'm very fortunate indeed to have accidentally downloaded an anime I wouldn't -even- think of watching if it had been introduced to me via sypnosis.
Elfen Lied is very heart-warming in all. So if you don't mind violence and blood and dismemberment -- and there are a lot, a lot, alot, alotalot of those -- I'll recommend it quite highly.
